Employee Attrition at Cognizant in 2025
As of early 2025, Cognizant has reported an increase in employee attrition. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the voluntary attrition rate in their Technology Services segment rose to 15.9%, up from 13.8% in the same period the previous year.
This rise in attrition coincided with a reduction in the company's workforce. By the end of December 2024, Cognizant's total headcount had decreased by 10,700 employees year-over-year, bringing the total to 336,800.
Despite these challenges, Cognizant remains optimistic about its growth prospects. The company plans to increase its headcount throughout 2025 to support anticipated growth. CFO Jatin Dalal stated, "As we look forward, we feel that we will add headcount as we need to grow and as we grow during the course of 2025."
Additionally, Cognizant has experienced a notable return of former employees, with 13,000 rejoining the company and another 10,000 expressing interest in returning. CEO Ravi Kumar S highlighted this trend, emphasizing the company's strong talent pool and its ability to attract leadership.
While the increase in attrition presents challenges, Cognizant's proactive hiring strategies and the return of former employees indicate a commitment to strengthening its workforce in 2025.
